Author Visits
Whether in person or virtual, geared for children, teens, or adults, author visits are a great way to engage readers and get them excited about the literary world.
And I enjoy doing them too!
I'm happy to talk about:
My books, how they came to be, and their importance in the world today.
Researching material and weaving factual events to fictional characters.
Cultural diversity and celebrating personal diversity.
Pathways to publication and a writing career (more suitable for adults).
Other topics or discussions you feel would benefit your community.
También hago presentaciones en español.
I also love giving creative writing workshops:
Developing ideas and brainstorming.
Creating well-rounded and interesting characters.
Character voices and multiple points of view (POV)
Story arcs.
Settings and sensory descriptions.
Any other aspect of creative writing that would be most useful for your students/community.
I offer a variety of visits:
In person presentations to your school, library, community, and conference.
Half and full day visits which can include multiple presentations, meet ‘n’ greet receptions, Q&A, book signing, etc.
Virtual visits using Zoom or Google Meets.
A free 15-minute virtual visit if you’ve bought a classroom set of books or are part of a book club (such as Battle of the Books). Home-school groups are also welcome!
NEW! I also teach circus arts like aerial silks, trapeze, stilt-walking, partner acrobatics, and clowning. How cool would it be to talk about books and then empower yourself with circus arts?
Have something else in mind? Let me know your thoughts. I’m always game for out-of-the-box activities and events.
Please contact me for costs, travel, and additional questions.
Discounts available for New Mexico schools/libraries.
I travel often and if I’m already in your area, that will reduce travel expenses.
If you are a Title 1 school or low-income district, please let me know what you can afford and I’ll let you know if that’s realistic for me or not.
Thanks and looking forward to meeting you soon!

**I am VERY GOOD at responding to all emails, the socials take a bit longer but I'll still respond once I see the message. If you haven't heard from me within a few days, please ask your school's tech person to check the firewall and "whitelist" my email (unfortunately, your school's security settings are the most likely culprit for not receiving my response). Alternatively, please resend using your personal (non-school or work) email, check your spam, make sure you can receive emails from outside your network, or try to reach me via another option.
